Default What upgrades for crate LSX454?

Hi all,

I've decided to use the GMPP crate LSX454 for my 67 Camaro.

I'm looking to have a daily driver with great idle characterisitics, while at the same time having lots of TQ.

Are there any cool/easy upgrades available for the LSX454 that I could consider?

I'm use the jegs kit that uses the LS7 intake and special LSX454 controller.

I've never upgraded an LS engine before, and wasn't sure what's the best upgrade for this specific type of engine.

I wouldn't mess with that engine one bit. It makes a crazy amount of power/torque all while having a warranty.....Sheesh; just enjoy it !!

If you're going to spend the extra coin on the crate engine then I agree, leave it as is and keep the warranty.

If you want more out of what that setup can offer, then buy the parts separately and build it accordingly (but without any sort of warranty).

Yes i hear the LSX454 crates run just fine as is! If you start changing thing you should just have one built to your spec's!

A bit off topic but jegs has a Victor Jr intake for L92/Ls3 heads listed in the one kit for the Lsx454 that has Ls7 heads!

The weakest link is the pistons and they are actually not that weak. under severe endurance applications the pistons go first. They won't explode but they will start to crack. In your application there is nothing to worry about

I don't see the point in spending so much money on a crate engine just to start replacing things.
