Default trickflow 220 on 416 stroker

Dear friends,

I ordered a lot of stuff to upgrade my ls6.
Unfortunately my builder rejected my shortblock. The hones are gone and chips are missing from the pistons and grooves in the crank. So time for a new shortblock. My builder said its best to go forged and stroked. So i'm looking for a ls3 416 or maybe 402 ls2 stroker
The stuff i have

ls1 220 as cast heads worked by Brian Tooley milled to 59cc :-(
Fast 102 port matched with 92mm TB
BTR cam 231/240 0.6 lift
1 7/8 headers
42lb injectors
Morel 5290 lifters
arp bolts
ati damper 25% underdrive

What do you guys think about reusing the heads and other parts?

either the 408-418 will really shock you with power. that would make a perfect match.. The only thing would be 2 open up the valves a tad and a cam 2 match the new stroker crank & bore size.. you have the right stuff.. just tweak it 4 the larger engine size.

Thanks John

How much hp will i miss out on if i keep the heads untouched and go just with a supporting cam. What cam would you recommend? I live in Amserdam there are no people who can install bigger valves..

some..... but try this look @ HOT ROD mag. LS HEAD SHOOT-OUT for the 408 lq9. That will let you C how many of the heads 4 the ls compare 2 1 another. But a good port program is around 700- 1100.oo bucks. ADVANCED INDUCTIONS has a damn good program...email them.

The heads will be fine even milled, I had AFR 205's @ 59cc that I wanted to use on my 416 LS3 stroker. If I remember correctly I think the Wiseco were ordered -10cc, your builder can calculate what you need correct?

Have you checked with Brian regarding the stroker & using your existing bits. Sounds like a stout package using everything you have.

My builder will have no problems to calculate ;-) i think brian tooley is already tired from me. I asked him so much already.
Did you finish your build with the afr205's and do you have numbers?

Why do you say he is tired of you? Cuz he should be, cuz he acts like it, or...?

Just wondering since this is such a service oriented business and my encounters with BTR have been so positive and productive despite my constant questions...

The 205's never made the team, guides were bad so I went ported AFR 230's which turned into a **** show. Now it is extensively modified TF 235's, welded chambers to compensate for pistons Ported by Chris Frank, the motor makes very good power with frightening pedal response with what many would consider to small of a cam.

What do you think about my 231/240 cam?

Mine is a 235/243 .650 114+5, I'm looking for drive ability so I may swap it out yet for something smaller. I would try the cam that you have if it fits your goals.

Exact specs are 231/240 112+2 0.6 lift. The purpose is drifting. So need a powerband from 3000 to 7000 rpm. The motor is goin to be adjusted on a motorbench. So i llike to do it right first time... brian specd it for a 347 ls6

Is there a budget? I agree to try & get it right the first time. I would get the heads right, you mentioned you don't have anyone there to modify your TF 220's. I'm sure you could make a deal to exchange your heads with something that fits the stroker better.

What is it like to import at your place?

There is budged. But no market for this stuff here. In total the taxes will be 35%. Order the right cam will be doable. But if i will miss out on 40rwhp i cannot ignore that...

Maybe the 2.055 intake valve will get me there? I will try to find someone who can install them... will that be big enough?

Why not ship your heads out for repair & have them returned as something else like a TF 235? There are supplier's that will work with you. The TF 220's are new correct? The money your are going to spend to re work your heads would probably get you into a better head, maybe even a off the shelf cylinder head. It sounds like there is difficulty at your place getting things worked on, so maybe better with something off the shelf in the unlikely event you have to have worked on in the future.

Advanced inductions do not want to help me. Because brian touched them.
