LS Torque motor for Chevy K30 4x4 I want a motor with strong low/ mid range torque and power. Recently I bought a 2002 5.3L with the plans of boring out to 5.7L or 6.0L but before i committed to that, i wanted to ask your guys opinions on it first. The truck is being fully caged, has Dana 60 and 14 bolt axles with 4.56 gears and 42" tires and I plan on using a SM465 trans.
Which is the best motor for torque in a heavy offroad truck? Is it possible to get the torque i want out of the 5.3 or would it be neccessary to bore out?

How about finding a junk block and build it... Transfer the pulley system etc.. And the truck could still be used...
But even better than this, would be a cam change and getting the compression up..Head work works WONDERS.. This could be done without a complete tear down of a good engine.
