Default post your LS3 stroker builds please

Hey guys I'm doing a little premature planning for a 418ci LS3 build. Just want to see some setups you guys have. Would really rather see 416 and 418 but any LS3 based stroker is fine. Just list your setup(heads, cam, intake, exhaust, etc) and what it made on the dyno. I'm not sure what I want to do for heads. So far my choices are either PRC small bore LS7 or TEA ported LS3 heads.

Goal is 550 rwhp. Thanks in advance guys.

There are a lot of builds that you could look up ..
Your cam/head choice will seal the deal. Either head you listed could get what your wanting with the correct cam choice.

Yeah from what Ive been reading it seems the LS3 heads require a more thought out cam selection. Any idea what you would go with? This will be in a C5Z(don't have yet but soon..hence the "premature planning" lol), and will be a weekend cruiser and street race car(roll AND dig racing).

The TEA/TFS 255 LS3 Head I'd do before I do ported LS3s.

The small bore LS7s will beat anything tho, so that's probably the best route.

But I still wouldn't discount cathedral port heads... PRC 247s or TFS 245s would all make the HP number with probably more avg torque.

And then there's the Chris Frank ported TFS cathedral port castings...

On cam specs just hit up Ed Curtis or pat g if he's still around to custom grind one for you...my guess is it's going to be around the 240/250 size and top it off with ported and port matched FAST 102/NW 102 and you hit it.

Currently did a LQ9 408 with Callie's Shaft/Rod, Wiseco pistons, 238/252 custom cam, ported LS3 head, ported fast 102 and port matched to heads with a nw102 and powerbond 20%UDP compression at 12:1.1 and made 543rwhp/506rtq

So it's possible with good parts.

Lol, I bet it flys.

I forgot to mention in my original post the reason for thinking about the small bore LS7's. Was told that they would be a good or better option because of being able to run the LS7 intakes. The LS7 (stock or FAST) are both better for the LS7 compared to the LS3. So that was my reasoning for throwing them into the mix. Just looking for ideas and combos people have ran. This build is still a good ways off so just trying to gather as much info as possible!

You just can't leave well enough alone can you? I'm sure with those parts, you'll get 600 rwhp no problem. I'd give my left or right ******** (not both) for a set of Frankenstein heads.

No, I can't. lol

Been looking at a 98 Trans Am to turn into more of a race car than the 02. Part of me really enjoys the build process. So I wouldn't mind starting another build while I enjoy this one.

Lol, has this setup been done already? Or what you are putting together? If it's been done what did it put down? Also if you don't mind Jake pm the price of those TFS 235s from Chris if you know. Would appreciate it.

The short block is done. I'm awaiting for the whole top end combo from Brian Tooley(BTR). This is my first LS swap into my 94 camaro. Still debating on which engine management I should go with. Stock ECU or aftermarket.
