ls3 shortblock, vindicator cam, are my TFS heads choking me???
ok my combo is a stock LS3 shortblock, unported fast 92 intake, vengeance vindicator cam and my heads are AS Cast 220 TFS ls1 style milled to 61cc(3.9 bore heads). my compression ratio is 11.7 with gm mls gaskets. my goal is to be 500 rwhp and high tens in a 3600 lbs 4th gen. the rest of the drivetrain is a built t56 and moser 12 bolt with 4.56 gears. I really have no idea what im currently making power wise but was told with this set up on an ls2 I should crack 500rwhp. long story short I ended up with an ls3 and I fear the heads I have are hurting me to the point to where im not making close to 500rwhp. obviously if I switch to 225s or had a set of AS Cast (4 in bore)touched up, I'd make more power. my question is; with what I currently have can I achieve the 500 rwhp mark?
engine also has ls7 lifters, stock rockers with trunion upgrade, 85 mm z06 maf, 1 7/8 arh headers, ory with 3 inch e-cut out.

I sure hope so, I was even thinking of swaping the cam out if I don't reach my goal. BTR stage 4 cam or a g6x3 possibly. ive read on corvette fourm of plenty of tfs/g6x3/ fast/6.0 LS2 combos making 500 to 530, granted they have 225 tfs heads. I cant find to much on BTR cams in engines bigger then an LS1. but theyre making good power cam only ls6s(430-460) and seem to be the popular cam these days

BTR ground the cam on the fastest Z06 (LS7) all motor in the country. They know what they are doing.

You could always get those heads touched up.

Nearing 500 rwhp, i will recommend an ls3/ls7 maf set up and definitely a better exhaust than a 3...you need at least 3.5 or 4 better...that i woukd think is choking you...

Why do you seem to think a bigger motor would make less power with the same cylinder head all else being equal?
If anything if your heads or any other component was maxed out you might make the same hp as you would with a smaller motor but more torque everywhere especially in the low end.
You could fit a 454lsx with stock 243 heads. It would make a ton of tq and be limited on hp due to flow. Obviously not ideal.
You made a good choice opting for a larger motor.

I have a full 4 air intake run in the same location as lt1 cars (driver side behind turn signal lamp). Unfortunately I can't run an intake over the rad like a 98 02 cars due to my lt1 front clip. So it's 4 in the entire way except where the 85 mm maf is.
I just keep hearing from people that my heads are really hurting me since they weren't made for a 4 inch bore and I should put stock milled ls3 heads/intake. I would make way more power that way blah blah blah... So i don't know if I'm letting all that get to my head. I just can't really seem to find anyone running a set up similar to mine.

I still stick to 2010 ss maf as well, reason we tell, you asked whether you want to let it in your head is up to your head lol.
Guarantee the guy running the vette on the vids is not using your short cuts.
Making power is all about the details.
