Default LS2, Blown Engine Noise? Help ID [Video]

Hello everyone! Just got this vehicle passed down to me from a relative and would like to fix it but I have never heard something like this.

i would like to get some direction to what this noise could possibly be before I tear this engine down.

Ooooooof. Don’t start it back up. She’s hurt, and it sounds like bottom end by the speed of it. Cam/valvetrain related noise would be half speed.

Ouch, I was hoping it would be a cracked flex plate.

I can’t rule that out from a video on the internet. Hopefully your right. Check that and the simple stuff (oil filter for debris, broken pulleys, etc.) before you pull it.

My guess is a ground up lifter that has lost the roller wheel and is just grinding into the cam. Drain the oil and look for metal in the oil. Also cut the oil filter open also looking for metal in the filter. If metal in either place.. Proceed with engine removal and dissection.
