Default Help! Burning out spark plugs!

I put an aftermarket intake on my 00 ls1 and after about a month and a half it started stuttering especially at low rpm.Read online that my E3 plugs had this type of problem so I replaced them with the O.E. model delcos. The car has run great for just over a month and now last night I felt the early stages of the stutter at low rpm thing again. WTF? do I need different plugs with this new intake? The plugs look clean but tan and almost maybe a baked look. Data looks good. Any ideas??? Thanks

Did you get a tune after installing the intake? If not you definitely need to...

I was told that I wouldn't need to get a tune for the intake. The first BBK intake started leaking at the seals after 2 months also, going to smoke test this one this week and see if the second intake has same problem but I don't think so. I thought the ECM would adapt the air/fuel mix for a simple intake swap? Until I can get a tune done is there any plugs I can run that will hold up better than the E3s and the stock Delcos??? Thanks for your help, I will look for a tuner near me. Heck only able to drive it another month before putting it away. Any other suggestions are welcome.

NGK TR55's all day every day.

Also, TUNE TUNE TUNE... and that BBK will heat soak over a composite manifold. I'd sell it and buy an LS6 if you don't want to spring for a FAST.

Thanks, was already looking at going to the LS6 intake in spring. I am surprised that I need a tune for an intake but you are not the first to tell me that on here so I am going to look for a tuner near me. Do you think the TR55s will hold up for a month until I put it away for the year? Thank you for your help!!!!!

they should do fine. I drove my car after swapping on the fast/PTM setup for about 600 miles before having it tuned.

I wouldn't beat on it too much, though.

Thanks I will try the TR55s, the delcos only lasted about 350-500 miles. I will "TRY" not to beat on it too much.

You may want to try a cooler plug, like a tr7, until you get your tune, they may last longer but I am not sure....Just an idea

more than likely you have an issue with a plug wire than a plug if it's done this on 2 sets

could also be a vacuum leak, the tune shouldn't be off enough to matter

if you are buying fuel at a **** hole gas station like Casey's or EZ Marts that aren't branded fuel stop doing that

I use only Shell 93 octane gas, was going to smoke the intake and look for any leaks since they had to send me another intake due leaks. Thanks!!

Sorry for the short multi answers, I'm at work. I have heard of problems with the MSD wires I have on it but the plugs all seem to be going bad. This intake had better not be leaking vacuum,,,,,,was an ordeal with them last time. Like you had said I didn't think I should need a tune just for an intake, the ECM should adapt.
