Default swarf caught in filter, ls3 crate engine 50km

Hey guys, so i got an ls3 crate engine, all i have done is fitted a 237/248 cam, springs, retainers, locks, pushrods, comp cam trunion bearings.

I left the factory filled oil in the engine and used a genuine gm oil filter,

I have done around 50km in the engine now since its first initital start up, was about to change the oil and filter to start loading it up some more and get it on the dyno, i have cut the filter open to find a fair amount of swaft caught in the paper filter, This appears to be mainly aluminium particles which will not pick up by a magnet and small amounts of orange silicon.

Is this an "acceptable" amount after a factory assembled engine, should i continue to do the oil and filter change and cut another filter to see if its getting worse?

Cheers

Some small particulate is totally normal break-in wear. As long as there are no large slivers or chunks, you should be fine.

ViaBellator is correct. Some wear on a new engine is normal. If you are **** about things, you can always check out all the rocker trunnions to make sure you aren't experiencing any issues that have been known to happen.

With that said, it very well may be normal break-in debris.
