Default lq9 l92 finally dynoed

well i finally got the truck dynoed and i dont know how i should feel.
Thats why im asking you guys
2005 chev 4x4 reg cab short bed automatic 265 16 tires
stock trans and converter as of now, just wanted to get motor in and nic nacs put together
6.0 bored .030
#823 heads milled .015 and .040 gaskets
l92 intake
ls7 TB
flat tops
226 231 600 lift cam
pace setter 1 3/4 long tubes
stock air intake as of now
no cats, just open headers

387 peak hp at 6200 rpm i believe, havnt picked truck up yet so dont have the dyno sheets yet

Speed density tuned, so MAF is going to be removed and going to have CAI so im hoping thatll give me 5 or so h.p.
underdrive pulley, hoping that will give me a little

What does everyone think of the power at the wheels thru trans and transfercase

Seems a little low for a 370 with a decent cam and good flowing L92 heads.

What type of dyno?

well that is pretty low but you're going through an auto in a truck with 4wd and a big rear end so that will sap up a good bit of power but also the cam is a little off imo l92 like a big exhaust split to make up for the fact the intake flows so well opposed to the exhaust

I got the cam cheap, so thats why i went with it, i know it wasnt a perfect fit, but it was a good price.
.598 .605 113 +4
exhaust ports were hand ported a decent amount too
i do have a set of cnc'd heads i can always throw on it too, but for a budget build im hoping its a pretty noticable amount from stock

im not positive on what the dyno is, ill know more when i got to pick it up

What cam would you recommend for something like that?

My setup was LQ9 4.030 W/ flat tops. L92 heads, ls6 springs, LS3 intake with ls2 TB. 1-3/4 longtubes with cats 3" duals w/ hpipe dumped at the axle (very short exhaust) The trans was 4l60e with 2500 stall and an 04 zo6 cam. It came out to 374/370. This was a dynojet so it could be a little inflated. I used a mail order tune from frost and remapped VE and MAF. Never touched the spark table but feel I could have pulled closer to 400 out of it had I tuned spark.

I just did a cam swap close to yours, 224/230 595/595, also had the heads cleaned up and a valve job with btr dual springs, 1-7/8 longtubes, cats and this time an x-pipe and the exhaust will exit the rear. I will be disappointed with under 420. Theres been reported numbers from 420 to 500ish depending on other mods and trans with this cam.

If you wouldn't mined, id like to see your tune if its hptuners, I will gladly send you mine for comparison.

dyno with the Z06 cam, I did not lock it in third so it shifted up. Could be you have a nice safe tune. Wait until you drive it to make the final say. It might pull like a freight train.

I only have EFI live, but i took my truck to lsx kilr and he uses hp. (im 3 hours away from the truck right now as im in iowa) i dont think he would probably want me to distribute his tune, but i can definitely ask him when i go get the truck and get it street tuned and finished up.

Im also using BTR cam and springs, the package was on sale so thats why i went with it. He said that above 5k rpm its got a restriction and making vacuum so MAF removed and CAI should help noticably!

Considering your set up those numbers might not be to far off. Maybe a little low but not by much.

The cam is fine. The stock CAI is no help. Engine needs air. With an Airaid, itll be breathing. Electric fans and underdrive pulley helps. 32-3600 stall will launch it alot better. 4x4 will eat up some power. No two dynos read the same.

Get CAI, Stall, electric fans, underdrive pulley and Retune 1st...before hitting the panic button and misspending money on unnecessary changes.

Ive used a 228-232 and presently 232-238 on my lq9/ls3 combo, tsp's ls3 cams have 5 degree splits so that wide split is a matter of opinion or myth.
