ls3 with 5000 miles. would you consider this normal wear?
Guys, I'm not new to engines by any means, but I am new to push rod motors. About 4 months ago, I noticed a squeak-type noise after swapping out my oem manifolds to some Kooks lth and cat deletes. I initially thought I had an exhaust leak, but after going over everything that's not the case.
Fast forward to today. I now have a cam motion titan vi, btr valvetrain, melling hv, c5r chain, ls2 dampner, and stock ls3/ls7 lifters. I keep hearing the squeaking noise from the exhaust, so I thought maybe a baffle was broken in the stock exhaust. I swapped out to a corsa zl1 3in exhaust, and same problem!
I cant really hear any noise in the engine bay other than typical lifter tick, but at the rear of the car it sounds like a field of mice getting beat by the cam. Today I decided to take a closer look at my stock cam.
Car:
2014 camaro ss 1le
ls3
btr springs/retainers/trunion
cam motion titan VI
Melling hv
c5r chain
ls2 dampner
kooks lth/cat deletes/corsa 3in
This is the stock cam with 5k miles. Most of the lobes look good, but there are some I wouldn't consider normal for 5k miles. I'm coming from honda ohc motors, but cam wear shouldn't vary.

The cam you are showing does not look like any problems there is some tracking. That is normal. The lifter wheels have a small amount of crown that may be why the are a little inconsistent. When you changed to headers and the squeaking noise started I would think that's the problem I know they can make some noise like you are describing. If you have our Titan cam there should not be any lifter noise at all. If you do let me know. Kip
I just got called into work for a repair on an engine as we speak.
