Default Trouble Removing LY6 Camshaft

Anything different in the procedure to remove a VVT cam from an LY6? This thing is not coming out. Had to give it a good nudge it to get it moving forward but it won't slide through the next set of bearings. Tried sliding it all the way back and now it wont go back into the last bearing.

Any thoughts?

Did you take the lifters out?

Taking lifters out is one way but most seem to just spin the cam without rockers on the heads and that sets all the lifters at the top of their normal travel and the trays usually hold them after that.

No spinny, you'll probably be in the market for head bolts and gaskets as the lifters fell. Maybe there is something different about VVT though. I have no experience with such an animal.

When I took the VVT cam out of my L92, I just spun the cam a few times, said a prayer, and pulled the can. I quickly reinserted the new cam and I was done.

Gimme a little more credit than that.

It's out. The #2 bearing came out of it's bore and was stuck on the journal. Could not see that from the top. Saw it from the bottom after I pulled the rotating assembly. Was able to tap it off the journal so I could cut it off.

No. It was being torn down for new bearings and to gap or replace/gap the rings for a turbo setup.
