LSX 434 Questions
I may have an opportunity to pick up a 11.0 compression 434 cu inch LSX soon. My question is will stock LS3 heads and intake plus 1 3/4" headers work with this set up or am I wasting my time.
I do not have a bunch of money for a bad *** set of LS3 heads, intake and header right now. I have a 4L80E with 3600 Edge 9.5" converter. I have not looked for a cam yet, the set up is going in my 1971 Datsun 240Z.
Any thoughts, right or wrong.
Thanks

I would really pay attention to the head choice. After all that's what really makes or break a motor.......
Is you dead set on the LS3 heads ?

What kind of set up wheel suspension you have in the Datsun to get this 500+ to the ground. Heads and a cam to compliment those heads are important. Also if you go ls7 you have to have the headers with a d-port. Basically all go together. I know ls swaps into datsuns are common, but not sure what kind of variety on parts options you have available. You also already gave us a CR, is this just a shortblock?

Yes, 11 to 1 with 70cc heads, just a short block that I have a chance to pick up for cash and a LS2 short block trade. My cam only LS2 with LS3 heads ran 9.70's in the 1/4 with a 150 shot.
This motor is an LSX block, 4" stroke with Callies Magnum internals fresh from the builder. I would be strapped for cash so would like to run stock heads and intake until more funds become available. The 240Z has a built independent rear end that has seen mid 9's and low 6's in the 8th.

I'd say get it. The extra bore is just gonna help any head you decide to use.

Of course they will work, not optimally for the most power possible but it's not like you're putting on there 241 heads and iron manifolds. The LS3s flow pretty well for a stock piece.
If you don't have the money for more right now I say just toss them on and enjoy the ride. Then later you can always port the **** out of those and make some killer power or go with LS7s/aftermarket. You're better off with a running car to enjoy (even if it's a bit choked) rather than have an engine sit unfinished with a car not running for years. Where's the fun in that?

Went ahead and purchased the motor, it's a LSX 436. We just got it installed and are working on the break in and tune. I tried to post a short clip but it keeps coming back as an invalid file...wth
