Default aluminum 5.3 stock stroke build

Hi, I'm a new member but have followed and used info from ls1 tech for a lo get time now.

I have a used 41,000 mile 2010 aluminum 5.3 for starters very clean engine inside and out. The block, crank, and rods will be reused. ARP pro main studs and rod bolts to keep it together. Wiseco +6cc forged junkyard dog pistons floating stock size .945 pins. Trick flow top end gen x 205 kit with upgraded cam 220/224 duration 575 split lift 112lsa. Ls3 adjustable timing set ls7 lifters, edelbrock 2 piece timing cover, katech car timing chain, all clevis standerd bearings 1/2 groove chamfered and dura bond ch 23 cam bearings, ls2 throttle body, I want an lsxrt intake but low on funds at this point. I'm waiting to get the block and crank back from machining so I can start pre assembly for a shade tree blue print. Looking to make just over 500 at the crank.

As soon as I can figure out how to load pics on here from my phone I can show parts. It's going in a light weight set up sorry I'm purposely being vague about vehicle so as not to tip off the locals. Customer wire ring harness from current performance should be here next week. I do have a question for professionals. What size injectors should I be looking for if I want add not later on. 200 shot range. Yes arp pro head studs

Why not bore the block out to 3.90x" to make it a 5.7L? I've got a 2010 LC9 that I'm doing the same thing to, but I'm using Probe pistons and Scat rods.

I was under the impression that the aluminum 5.3 block was only good to a 3.80 bore. My pistons are for a 3.79. I want to keep it strong so I can add spray later

In a gmc canyon zq8 suspension and regular cab. I've purchased the v8 springs and struts from the 4 door and ext cab models.

I know they sure look good and the shop manager at LME in Houston told me they are the same castings as the older 220 cc just less machining for the 205. So there is plenty of room for growth

I have sense found that this information may be incorrect or perhaps I misunderstood.

The 220cc is an as cast port. How the hell do you get 205cc by machining a 220cc port?

Trickflow makes an as cast series head and the fully cnc'd series the 205 can be ported to a 220 cc. That's how!

Hey k&s how about some feedback instead of giving crap. You ask about the bore and I responded. Is my info wrong? What about injector size? Anything constructive.

I joined this forum to share my project and learn along the way. I might not have the money or expertise to build the ZR1 Colorado but at least I can can build my dream truck, one that an average guy can hope to build! So kiss my ***!

Yes, your info is about as jacked up as your spelling. The 5.3L blocks, aluminum or iron, can go to 3.90x". It's done all the time. I'm about to do it to mine.

It should be painfully obvious to anyone with half a brain that the TFS 205cc head is not the same casting as the TFS 220cc head. Think about it, the 220cc head is bigger "as cast" and the 205cc is smaller after being CNC ported. Just because the 205cc head could be opened up to 220cc does not make it the same casting, as you stated it was.

Good luck with your build. It's obvious you can barely operate whatever device you're posting from, so it should be entertaining to see how you put an engine together.

You might need a bigger cam than that for 500+ crank.

I'm basing this build after one that Hot Rod magazine did. I think it was Hot Rod. The project track rat first gen camaro. They used the same heads and cam, the flat tops from the 4.8 and the ls2 intake and throttle body. They claimed 491 on the dyno. I don't know what lifters, pushrods, or rocker arms they used. I'm using the Harland Sharp roller rockers, ls7 lifters, and wiseco 11.5:1 +6 cc forged pistons. The intake (if I can afford it will be lsxrt) if not I'll port the stock intake 2010 truck by peakspeedshop.com, and I have a new ls2 throttle body

The intended purpose of the vehicle and this build is for a high performance high hp (what I consider High for this little truck) that will be street driven nearly every day but can be brought to the track for some fun. Something that is always fun to drive.

You're going to take it all apart and throw in the stock rods? I know the gen IV stuff is alot beefier compared to the earlier stuff but it still does not change the fact it's a powdered metal rod with weak bolts.

$300 can get you forged steel rods with ARP bolts, and you can cut that cost almost in half by selling your gen IV low mile rods.

But that's just me, I wouldn't drop 6k+ on a new engine setup and reuse the stock rods...

I'm using arp rod bolts for the cracked stock rods. I looked at rods but never found anything for 300 bucks the cheapest I seen was around 550 maybe 500.

Another build from the mags not sure which one was a 4.8 stock bottom end turbo that pushed 1200hp. The article did not say if they used arp or not but I would think they did. This was not just a one time dyno pull but a lot. With that info and info from other sources I chose to go this route. Plus I had a hard time finding stock length rods with stock pin size. I can't remember but I may have found some but not for $300
