Default LS3 rockers... again....

Hi all i recently purchased an LS3 from a 2008 Corvette. Only has 40k miles on it, and it looks clean (under the valve covers as well). As we all know the rockers in ls motors seem to be a debacle, with there being many choices ranging from bushings to upgraded trunions, aluminum to chromoly, adjustable to non adjustable. I'm pretty stuck. Im pretty set on not using the comp cams trunion kit due to the rate of failure. I am really interested in the che bushed stock rockers, sent an email to che and a response is pending.

Looking to daily this motor with a mild cam, talked with martin at tick and he really likes the stage 2 for the ls3(for my application) 229/244 | .61x”/.59x” | LSA112+4. Not looking for crazy power, or trying to get every last rpm out of it. maybe 6500 rpms or so.

So my question is, WITHOUT PRICE BEING A FACTOR, what rockers would you guys recommend? Dont really care about price because a $1000 dollar set of rockers now is better than a second ls3 for about $5000.

Thanks Guys
Matt

Stock rockers and if you want to feel good, trunion upgrade.

SLP 1.85 ratio rockers.

BTW.....I have a NIB 229/242 Lingenfelter cam for sale.

.629" Intake/Exhaust lift (w/1.7 rockers) and LSA 114.5 + 0.

Not using cam because I decided to go 427ci versus heads/cam.

PM if interested.

Comp Cams stud mounted rockers are another option they have the 1:7 rocker and I used the 1:8"s not that bad in price either, around $450 for a set.

What is the P/N for the stud mounted Comp style lil john? cant find them. I cant tell if youre talking about the black chromolys or the anodized gold aluminum.

Also forgot to add guys i'm not really a fan of the yella terras now that i've seen a few snap.

Sorry about the time ( talking to my friends dad Joe about his brother selling me a 86 4 cylinder Mustang running for $800 and researching parts.)

Part number for the 1:8 rocker is #1676-16 there all black. Make sure you get the ratio you like Martin @ Tick specified for my cam a 1:7 as this is the standard ratio. I went with the 1:8 rocker ratio, cam went from .715 to .757 lift but that's a good thang:-)

How many miles you got on em lil john? Yeah i was looking at those. Was wondering why more people arent running them, they look like nice pieces for a good price to me.

I've put around 700 or so on it since late November. There good rocker arms I took the heads of to check and see how much spring pressure they may have lost my Old buddy@ Conrad Racing engines said, that everything checked out fine. A lot cheaper than shaft-mounted rocker arms throw in the stud girdle and we can have a Cheap shaft mounted rocker arm system for a solid roller 4 less than 800 bucks.

Really like the idea of a 86 Mustang hatchback sitting on some Flat Black SVE Drift Wheels 18x9fr / 18x10 rear with some 275/35/18. 285/35/18 Nitto NT05 Tires..Would have to change over to 5 lug and swap struts also get rid of the rear end and get a 8.8.
I really don't know I may just buy it and turn around and sell it for a profit. Phone pictures look good on the interior but the paint is sun baked and faded. I may sell my 94 Altima to help pay for the suspension work. Had a 88 Lx 302 stroker, totaled it showing off:-)

Well i tryed to flip my mustang and its turned into a shitshow. dropped about 6k into it and gonna lose money on it.

just find a 5.0/t5 combo on craigslist and drop it in if you want to sell it. Or go 5.3 and your trans of choice if you keep it. fox bodies are like ******** though, everyone has one. and because of this their resale value isnt the best.

It's just a idea but for 800 bucks running I may buy it. But right now I have to many cars in the drive way: Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer, Altima, Cutlass and my girls Chevy Cruze. The Altmia runs good but the battery is dead and the state inspection sticker is from last yr in October. Had to give it a boost yesterday to weed eat and blow that side of the drive way. She's not gonna let me get another car without 1 being sold:-)

I use to be stationed in Hampton/Norfolk/Newport News @ Fort Eustis as a Apache electronic & armament technician.

Claude from CHE replied yesterday but i forgot to update. He says he has street motors with 50k miles on them that also get taken to the strip and beat and the bushings are the same as when they were installed new. Really liking these bushings.

What year altima and what year cutlass? I had the opportunity to buy a nice 86 Cutlass with a bad 305 for $200 and the owner sold it without telling me. granted it did have steelies and the 200r4 needed 3 quarts of fluid a week to keep working(front pump bushing was going) but it kept going till he ran it out of oil. The body wasnt all rotted to **** though and it had the nice blue interior with t-tops

83 Cutlass. My very first car was a 82 Cutlass in 94 had a oil burning 307 with oil plugs on 4 spark plugs :-) End up putting a 283 my uncle had sitting in his shed from the late 60"s early 70"s car was stolen back in 97.
My friend Rob who's dad I spoke about earlier has had over 5 two T-top's since 92 very easy car to steal. We know all the weak points from past auto thefts.

1994 Altima I got it from a friend going back to Mexico for $1200. I never post pic's cause of some of the company I keep or friends that may ride with me from time 2 time.

I've never contemplated changing from factory rocker arms in our LS3.

Engine was installed almost 4 years ago, and drove across Australia and back last year.

Cam is 231 239 .617" .624" 113.

Dam Dyno Junkie... that just restored my faith in factory gm products. It seems as though the ls3 are definitely an improved design compared to the ls1's.

How much does CHE get for the bushings installed? I have an extra set of rockers that are almost brand new that I might have done.
