First 408 build Help
Hey guys. So I am building a 408 with a fully forged Callie's bottom end and I am kinda confused as for what's a good set up. I am trying to make 500-550 na wheel ponies. And then throw a 200-250 shot Threw a stalled 4l80E my questions are. What pistons should I run also what's a safe c/r for a lq4 408 stroker. Also was thinking about a tsp giant cam. And trick flow 255 gen x heads. Money really isn't problem I been saving for a long time. I wanna keep it on 93 pump gas that can be driven on the street. To the drag strip and back home. And also for cruise nights. And it's going in a f body camaro let me know what you guys think. Thanks

I personally don't like those TFS 255 heads and I'll tell you why too... I have seen them on a couple of motors and they just font perform for what you pay for them. In my book of you wanted to run a rectangular port head you'll be better off send a pair of stock LS3 heads off to Chris Frank and come out cheaper. If I had a 408 build knowing what I know now I would do a top of the the line cathedral head setup..... they not dyno queen setups but in the real world they kick ***!! Why because cathedral headed motors tend to have a better torque curve over a rectangular headed setup where a rectangular headed motor is just peaky.
If put together right you'll see 530 plus at the tire.....

My .02 for your goals would be:
Heads MMS 235,AFR230s (MAMOFIED), OR TFS235s W/N2O Exhaust Port.
Any of those heads capable off 550 RWHP w/ ATTENTION TO DETAILS!
TFS 255s to big for 408 dual purpose IMO.
Cam Low Lash Solid Roller from CAMMOTION worth 20-25 compared
To HR of similar specs adjusted for lash with an additional 1000+ RPM capability Have Kip spec ( something like 240*/246* ( depending on head
Selection add 6-10* exhaust for N2O) .660"/.640" LSA 114* +3*)
HR 236*/242* .620"/.610" LSA 114* +3*(same add for N2O)
Texas Giant to Big and outdated for your goals IMO.
Compression 11.0:1-11.5:1
Intake FAST 102 W/Mid Length Runners or MSD AIRFORCE
Both of which are probably at least 2 Months Wait.
ARH 1 7/8 LTs, True Dual Exhaust,
Can easily lose 30+ RWHP W/ wrong single exhaust!
That's a start.

OOPS
MSD INTAKE may not be applicable to F Body.
LS3 ports and Valves especially, are too Big for bores under 4.060" IMO
like Tusky says Cathedral much better choice for street/strip
Car with your bore size.

My first choice if I could wait (1-2 months? Maybe Tony could chime in)
MMS 235s
2nd choice, or first choice Immediately MAMOFIED AFR 230s
Made 663 Crank & 580 RWHP W// 243*/247* .624"/.624" LSA 114* +2*
Hydraulic Roller Cam in a 417" W/ 11.4:1 Comp ARH 1 7/8 LTs &
ALL! The Details!
In Jeremy's Firebird with impeccable street manners,
Maybe Jeremy can chime in.
I would also have Kip @ CAMMOTION Spec a Low Lash Solid Roller
They are so much more street friendly now and worth another
~20 HP and 1000-1500 RPM, with much greater Valvetrain Stability!
Definitely get Mid Length Runners for FAST 102 if you go LLSR
