Default Cracked block repair

Im doing an ly6 conversion for a customer and got to the point of priming the oil system, turning engine over to get oil to the top end when I noticed oil leaking out of the back of the engine. Upon further inspection I saw that the rear left side "wing" of the bell housing was welded back on to the block, right above the oil filter. I have oil leaking out from the front side, directly above oil filter and also from the back side. I pulled the trans and the repair can be seen in the pics.
Obviously this piece that was broken opened up into the oil galley and whoever welded it didn't seal it up completely.
The engine is all factory stock with no big dollar aftermarket parts.
Is this worth trying to correct, or start over with a new engine? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It was already "fixed" once, and look what happened.
Even if the welder guarantees it, who pays for your T&T R&R-ing it?
I'd look for another block.

Thanks Panic, it's good to hear I'm not the only one who thinks it's a waste of time sticking any more effort into this block

Thanks Gnx7, I'll keep that in mind if we can't find anything closer
