Default LS7 Dry to Wet Conversion

Is there a sticky for this listing all the parts needed? It appears many of the swap parts are OEM LS3. I would buy the kit, but im thinking of buying some upgraded stuff like ARP balancer bolt, double chains etc.

We have all of the parts, melling pump, billet timing set, etc to get you taken care of on the dry to wet conversion. Are you installing a cam as well?
We also have the tech and assembly info to help you out!

I'm building a wet sump LS7 to fit in a DSE frame with the set back mounts. The set back mounts allow the C6 oil pan to fit. I like the C6 pan over the F body for oil control.

The GMPP catalog has a windage tray for 4" stroke. The other parts are over the counter for C6 wet sump LS3, including the balancer.

I had my crank cut, but SD sells a spacer if you are not disassembling the engine. If you use the spacer you use a LS7 bolt, LS3 if not.

What's so SCARY about running an OEM dry sump? One hose out......one hose in? It's not hard to find a nice used Z06 oil tank and find a mounting location.

Only a fool would put a used oil tank on a new engine. Who knows what's hiding in there?

There are not too many mounting options for tanks, stock or otherwise in a f body engine compartment without fabrication and or putting the tank in a non ideal location behind the fender.

The tests I've seen have shown increased HP for wet vs dry sump.

My guess for the slight hp increase is from the 2 stage to single oil pump ( less power to turn it) The hp i have a seen can not be felt and no gains on a track

The slight HP gain from the conversion would not be the reason to do it, the packaging issues would be.

The factory ls7 oiling is also terrible on a road course. Main reason I sold my LS7 and building the new engine. You can run Fbody accessories on an LS7 dry sump setup. Just call ATi for the proper offset balancer.

Im looking at it as what is the cheapest/easiest method to get it in the car running.

$500 for an oil tank, $250 for a breather and likely $150 for an lines.

I faced the same dilemma and decided to go wet sump.

Unfortunately what is cheapest might not be the easiest.

Don't forget the LS7 blocks need to be drilled for a dipstick tube when converting to wet sump.
