That's probably ok. The thrust and main clearances are a little tighter than what I would want, but I bet it would be fine.

Default Rod Bearing

Hi, I would fit King Race bearings, rod only.

Your rod bearing is too tight.

You will NOT allow oil flow @ .002", enough to cool the bearing.

The better size is a .003" rod bearing measurement.

What would you set them to? Those are ERL's numbers ! Everything I've read is .002 min on mains .0025 ideal. Rods .0025 I was amazes how much the oil follow changes going from .0018 to .0025. Now that the news is out I'm really concerned about getting a quality assembly from them.

A good general rule of thumb for a performance application is .001" clearance for every 1" of journal diameter. The LS1 mains are about 2.5588" and the rods are about 2.0999". Since the block is aluminum, you want a little tighter main bearing clearance than what you would want in an iron block. I personally would like to see .0020-.0022" but I don't think .0018" would hurt as long as it's the tightest clearance. Rarely are the mains all exactly the same. If you think you might jet it up and hit it with a larger shot of nitrous, then I would really consider loosening it up.

The thrust is ok for a street car with a performance clutch or converter, but again, if you think you may end up with a little more aggressive setup, I would want more clearance, like .006-.007".

KCS/Pantera Thanks. I agree, we'll have it set a little looser. I was surprised that was their recommendations, knowing the usage.
