Sampled a couple of 1st commers at Chevy Racing Division here in Dubai.
The SS400 with addition of ORY, some weight reduction (seats) and BFG drag radials cut a 12.9x 1/4 mile at 110mph. Not bad at all for a "Stocker".
Still whipped its *** N/A with my bolt on 01 Z28 (Stock motor).

Im glad to hear the GTO is getting a well deserved more agressive look. I never understood why pontiac, having the image of somewhat radical looking cars and tons of body work, revives a legendary nameplate in the most bland, understated looking car imaginable. The increased power LS2 will make for an awesome modern day muscle car.
AS far as the lumina SS, WTF??? why not make it a cavalier ss. Ill never understand the overseas marketing strategy. Seriously, monte carlo or impala wouldnt have worked better?

No more LS1....they are phasing it out. CSTV has the ls6....how many more years before they set that off to the side??? Not to mention when will the trucks being giving in there old engines for the new ones to arrive?!?!?
ether way it is derived from the LS1. Alot better in design is for certain! ( 15 pounds off the block???? SWEET!!!!! ) I guess thats what you do get when GM takes something so great only to just go ahead and make it even better.
let a new era of v8's swamp the american city streets and highways!!!
erik
p.s. the good news is that the GTO LS1 cars may go down farther in price. This $2000 rebate **** is crap!!! lol but all in good time will they come down. However the used ones..... when could we see low 20's?!?! hmmm speculate... speculate...

In the past, the corvette has always had the "new" engine for a year before it was available in any other model so I'm really surprised.
What's even more odd to me is that the Cadillac (the flagship division) CTS-V is still going to use the LS6, while the newer version is in the GTO? Really strange.
