Question Any Ls2 Owners Have Piston Slap?

I was curious to know if GM has done anything to address the piston slap issues that are so common with the LS1 engines. Does anyone experience "clatter" when the engine is slightly warm, but not totally toasty yet?

There was an article in GMHTP that broke down the new LS2. In it they said that the issue was addressed because it was a customer complaint. The article went on to say that the slap wasn't a concern from reliability just an annoyance. I can't remember what the article said was changed to cure it though. Sorry.

GM changed the design of the wrist pin to eliminate or minimize the piston slap. I haven't heard of any complaints so far on piston slap for the LS2.

I have no slap in mine......yet. I only have 1k miles so far, It could develop I suppose. I haven't heard of anyone elses LS2 that has developed slap. Frankly, I doubt the slap causes any real problems, I believe it's mostly an irritant.

Yeah it definately IS an irritant. My '02 has minor slap when it's cold.... . I worship the car and it isn't going to make me care for it less, but I feel like something is attacking a family member- only there's nothing to fire my 9mm at. I am saving for a blueprinted stoker.

Wow, it must be a bigger problem in LS1s than I was led to believe. Good luck on that stroker. What displacement are you looking at?

P.S. Get rid of that wimpy 9mm and get a MAN's gun. The only proper size holes to drill in soft flesh are .45".

Gm did change the wrist pin design for the LS2 motors. I think they went to a full floating wrist pin. Does anyone know if GM is still coating the pistons like the 2002 and later LS6 motors?

A man's gun? I have a mini arsenal!!!!!!!! I own a "registered class 3" submachine gun that happens to be in 9mm. To me the machine gun IS a man's gun. Curious? It's a Colt 635 looks just like a shortie M-16, but it's chambered for 9mm. Come 'git some!!!!!!
For the stroker I'm planning a 382.

Just yankin' yur chain dood, got a couple of 9s myself, just prefer larger holes. Stroll over to ar15.com to see some of my projects. Same user name over there.

Nice choice on the stroker. Are you getting a whole shortblock or reciprocating assembly for your block.

Me and my buddy went to the local Pontiac dealer and test drove a 05 GTO. As soon as the car was started we could hear slight piston slap. It went away though.

I plan to take the whole car to More Performance and have them rebuild the entire motor and have them swap the differential at the same time.

I was thinking that the motors will still have slap because of the all aluminium and the heat properties that go with that material. My friend's LS1 had very minor slap when he first started it- and now the slap is much more noticable at 60k miles.

The pistons are coated, the pins are floating, the engine is quiet.

I didnt get to drive it but my buddy did and he floored it through a couple gears. He had been looking at WS6's. He said it felt better than the 02 CE WS6 he drove a week earlier. He is now more interested in this car cause it seems to feel better than the 02 f-bodys. Not sure if I would buy one for me but still a VERY nice car and nicer than the f-bodys in alot of ways.

I have a 9 mm and a .45, but I kinda like my 44 mag for drilling holes.

I dont drill holes with anything less than a 5 axis CNC machining center with 40x40x80 inches of travel.... (When im allowed to use it).
