I do believe they are, but not sure. Could be a better balanced version. Same stroke (3.622). The LS2 is basically an '01 ls6 punched out to a 4" bore

Will an 05 camshaft out of a GTO fit in an 04 Silverado. I am not sure if the 05 GTO is a LS2 but I am sure that my Silverado is an LS1. I need to find out quick, EBay is cheap.

not to be a smart *** but did you swap engines in the truck? is it a 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0, or 8.1? only a 5.7 is a ls1 or ls6.

I think maybe he was trying to say that his engine is in the LS_ family of engines, as almost every every part will interchange, cam, heads ect.

4.8 5.3 5.7 6.0 LS1, LS2, LS6 LS4, LQ4, LQ9, ect, are all the same, except bore/stroke which would make just the block, crank & pistons, really the only 3 major parts that make a difference between the different engines.

i'm aware of this but his statement was he knows he has a ls1. not a ls family. so.....wouldn't the ls2 and ls4 ect belong to the ls family then? and in that same thinking arent they all genIII sbc engines?

I thought the LS2 block was stronger than the LS1? Would be safer making a big stroker motor out of it!!

The LS1 and LS6 are Gen III engines. The others are considered Gen IV due to bigger stock bore and other minor changes in the block. PCM and such is different as well.
