what if any setups will the LS7 head be compatible with, more specifically will we see quite a few retrofits in the near future?

The LS7 heads are compatible with any LS series motor with a bore 4.10 or larger.

Rockers are specific to the heads. Lifters are compatible. cam is, and valves are already in the heads. If you read the LS7 stickies it should tell you what you want to know.

LS7 heads are nice, they fit on LS1 blocks nicely, sleeved LS1 blocks of course. To make them work, you will need LS7 valves, rocker arms, lash caps, as well as some sort of LS7 intake manifold or carb setup. Everything else LS1 bolts right up. You will also need longer pushrods, I used 7.750" ones on my setup.

Does anyone offer a single plane carb manifold for these yet?
