Default Help please with L92/LS2 HEAD GASKETS

I need Head gaskets for L92/LS2 4” bore the article in GM Tech says must use 4.06” gasket because of chamber size. 4” will burn up in chamber. SDPC said to use LS2 that’s just wrong. They said they didn’t know what gasket to use for L92. I’m trying to get together next WK. I don’t understand they list COMETIC LS1/2Gaskets as 4” bore then jump to 4.160 and 4.190. They said to use Late LS1 ARP head bolts, will this work? I have been Emailing TSP for wks now but no answers.
SDPC says GM has L76 intakes on back order but they still have them in stock. Mine goes out tomorrow!

This is the L92 block? Just locate a GM PN for the Escalade and use a factory head gasket.

I used a 4.030 bore cometic with .045 thickness. My pistons are JE -5cc and my heads MIGHT get milled (L92's)

Machine shop said to go with a .051 but texas-speed only had a .045 and the machine shop said it would be ok, just less milling of the head.

I think Cometic will make anything. Not cheap but-

I am going to lay my lS2 4.030 Cometic on the head and try to figure out the GMHP
recommendation because I have a one time used 4.030, .045 set.

What they are saying is the 4.030 gasket hangs into the combustion chamber?? The stock gasket hangs in, Cometic hangs in or both?
A larger by .035 gasket is going to reduce the gasket seal area between cylinders I suspect.

Go to the cometic website. You can get a 4.130 bore size in many different thicknesses common ones are .040/.045/.051

The GM part number for the L92 head gasket is 12610046.
Even though you are running a smaller bore, you still do not
want the head gasket hanging out past the chamber on the head.
These are what I will be using for my FI L92 build.

I believe the L92 gasket is 4.065, so it should work fine with a 4.030 bore.

Ok I ordered stock L92 Gaskets from SDPC today 4.065 is required because chamber in Head is larger than 4” and will burn up 4” gasket with it out in chamber.
That’s what I been told. I can’t believe how hard it is to order parts 2 wks of Email and 3 days on phone tag still no cam or push rods. I will post Stock GM # as soon as I have it!

Ok here is what I ended up with. Runs strong still working on tune, Dyno 1/20/07. 05 GTO M6 8K mi Street Car Driver
Kspeck II cam 229 / 229 @ .050, .576 / .576 lift, 116 LSA, new timing set, Stock L92 Head Gaskets PART# 12610046, Stock L76 Intake Complete, Stock L92 heads cut .030- cleaned up ports boll area and polished by hand, Patriot DS kit, Stock L92 Rockers, Comp PRs 7.350, Ported and spring spacer on Oil Pump, 160 Thermostat, Kooks 1”3/4 Lt cated mid pipes, Magnaflow Cat back & K&N CAI. Only gaskets I replaced were Head Gaskets and O rings were on new Intake, Everything fit as expected except Kooks! Man that’s a lot of work in drive way. I don’t know why you couldn’t use LS2 Head gasket and just trim where it overlapped chamber. That way it wouldn’t lower compression, that’s what I would do over. Still waiting on gasket set I ordered last yr from one of our sponsors. I been Mechanic 30+ yrs and this is the worst time I ever had getting parts, ordering parts etc. UPS lost my heads and sent Push rods to OK instead of FL. Hope this info helps some one. This is one LOUDE BEAST, I think I will put stock moded air filter and Mufflers back on after Bradenton and retune.
