Default ls2.. dry sump oil?

i think i read somewhere that if i go with an ls7 in my truck i will have to convert to dry sump oil which will be a pain in the ***... what about if i go with the ls2? my truck is a 2000 silverado.. i'm mainly just goin for the corvette engine since its just a show truck.. so i did some thinkin and i guess it dont really matter if i do ls7 or ls2

You thought about an LS1? Hell just change the coils and intake so you can run the vette engine covers.

i dont wanna cheat... everything on the truck is going to be brand new and the c6 ls2 is only a little over a grand more than the normal 6.0.. so i'm just gonna bite the bullet and go for that.. i almost got an ls7 but restrained myself..

but if someone could tell me if the crate motor is dry sump oil or not i'd appreciate it.. i've been searchin but i guess i dont type in the right stuff

Yes the crate motor does use the dry sump system. Its not really a bad thing tho. Talk to Katech as they have the fittings and whatnot to help you make it all work.

Crate LS7 is dry sump but can be changed to wet sump. Crate LS2 is wet sump, can be changed to dry sump. IMO, both are great engines but the LS2 is less $$$$

The factory dry sump system used on the LS7 will not/cannot work on an LS2. The crankshaft snout on the LS7 is longer to accomodate the dual oil pumps.

You will have to run different PCM and wiring harness to run the LS2. But otherwise it would probably be pretty easy to do.

He wont have to change the harness or the PCM. The only things he will need are a custom tune, and the two extentions for the cam position sensor and the knock sensors.

The PCM willl recognize the 58X crank signal by simply reprograming it?

So no mater what you put the car through you won't have to worry about oil moving away from the pickup tube and starving the engine.
