Default Help with cam choice....

I have an 06 Vette, A6 tranny, no stall because they are not available yet. Plan to go 3200 or so when they come out. Currently have kooks 1 3/4, orx, stingers, and a callaway honker. No tune on the car, but it ran 12.2@116.5-117 on the stock runflats with a 1.8 60'.

I'm looking at the moment for a nice cam only setup that won't be too outrageous to drive with the stock stall, in the meantime, but also don't want a cam that I will be bored with in a month.

I've been looking at the MTI g1, any suggestions? The car is driven only for fun, not a dd, alot of highway pulls, and occassional strip time. My goals are a solid 11.5 car on street tire (assuming you assume I can drive it), and a solid 10 on DRs and a stall if possible. I'd like to keep the all around performance of the car. Don't want an all or nothing setup.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ed

Call Shane at Thunder Racing, nicest guy i have talked to so far. We are getting a custom grind for me that is going to have somewhat stock idle.

G1 is old tech man, fo rizzal Stock stall and something your going to be happy with a real converter, is honestly not going to happen as well as you may plan

An intake lobe in the low 220s is what youd be looking for... with a mild 3400 stall for ex. you can get away with much more. These cars need converter with the stock cam

I figured as much. I know you and I talked a while ago, I just wanted to get a better idea before I called you again.

No one has a converter scheduled for release anytime in the near future. Might just have to do some other little things in the meantime to keep me happy. There's a guy offering a retooled stocker, but I don't know how much faith I put in those.

I'm not really so thrilled about the idea of putting any kind of power behind a retooled stocker. Theres a guy on CF advertising them too. My buddy has one in his car, it's worked well so far, but I'm skeptical.

If you want power while you wait for the converter to come out why not just spray it?

With a 6 speed automatic, you won't need the converter as much as with an A4. As long as you don't go crazy with the overlap, you can run a bigger cam and keep the stock converter for now. The MTI G1 is actually a really good choice in this instance.

its not a retooled stocker. thats a lie. they have a co. by the name of Howards Converters that has been making converters longer than I have been alive.
one of my friends has one in a 99 T/A with a TH350 spraying a 150 off the brake on a stock motor pulling 1.3's, there is a guy on here that has a drag vette running one in the 8's for 2 years now. and my best friend has one in a stock weight T/A stock motor, stock LS1 intake, etc. pulling 1.5 60's and has been sprayed 120 out of the hole as well. 3 years in the making still bad *** as ever.
