What heads for my 422???

Default What heads for my 422???

like the title says...im pretty sure im gonna go with a 422 instead of a 408...what heads should i get...better yet ...im not too knowledgeable when it comes to stroker cams ....so which cam AND heads should i get??

GM L92 422
Eagle 4.0" crankshaft
Clevitte H-Series Bearings
Eagle 6.125 connecting rods
Diamond 4.100 Forged Pistons
File to fit Total Seal Piston Rings
Clevitte H Series Rod and Main Bearings

I see you are in Houston. Greg Good is a very good head porter from Houston and a member here, I would talk to him about your plans and budget.

If you want an off-the-shelf setup, I would look at TF235, AFR 225 or ETP 240 w/ a ported Fast 90/90.

As far as a cam : Cam Motion 246/250 .632/.628 113+3 or 253/257 113+3, with the above heads and 11.5 to 12.0/1 cr will make 550 rwhp/low 500 rwtq.

I've got 853 factory castings Stage 3 ported by MTI and I made 547/513 thru an automatic with the 246/250 Cam Motion on a 116 lsa. A few more cubes is all.

gtovan, what about out of the box L92's how much rwhp? and would you suggest cam motion for that?

I would contact LG Motorsports or TSP, as they have done testing with L92 heads and have figured out what works with them. The new LS7/ L92 heads seem very sensitive to getting the right amount of split/overlap/LSA/IVO and IVC on the money for good results.
