Stroke an LS7 ???
Reading on this forum has some people saying even the LSX block has cylinders that are too short for the longest stroke cranks out there . Is the LS7 block any better when looking for 500 ci ?

I'm no expert on the subject and would ask you to seek the adivce of an expert engine builder like ERIK KOENIG of HKE RACING, but I would say no, and your best bet if you want the massive cubes is a LS2 blocked lined with ductile steel iron liners!

according to steve at RED, the LS7 block will take a 4.250 crank with the MID sleaves, I think possibly the standard LS7 Darton sleave as well. I'm going with 4.185 bore and 4.125crank in my motor.

I'm seeing the same thing from what I'm reading (from engine builders). It looks like no matter what block you have (LSX, LS7, LS2, resleeved) the deck height is the same (I think that is the proper dimension). There is not enough material to hold the piston (comes out of the bore). Sounds like certain type of pistons help but do not solve the issue at this time. Looks like a tall deck is the answer.
For a reliable motor, a 4.00 stroke seems to be the consensus.
Kind of stinks cause I was hoping to build a 4.125 x 4.125 LSX. I too thought the lsx motor may help but I guess I was wrong.
