with an MS4 cam i think you are definitely pushing the limits of driving without a tune. The gto stock idle is what 750rpm? I think it will struggle to stay at idle and will probably stall on you a few times. Normally that cam likes a 850-950rpm idle. But im no expert, one thing though it had better be 2 weeks of GRANNY DRIVIN! haha other than that, nice cam in the Goat, you have heads or a Fast intake to compliment it?

not huge plans. i just want a nice lopey quick street car. i plan on getting the fast intake and maybe some ported heads. but who knows. ill be out of college in december. ive always been a big cam guy. but then again i used to only drive mustangs until i bought a 97 formula with a 227/233 cam and longtubes. i just love huge cams and cutouts. just something to cruise around in and make old guys realize that their big block isnt the only thing that cant produce lots of power without being wildly modified and turn the heads of little kids. know what i mean?

I think he picked that cam after he rode in my 99 WS6 with a ms4. It actually performs way better on the street then you would expect for a cam of it's size. I think the car will "run" and be capable of "driving" since his is an M6 car. I mean they 5.7L f bodies that will "run" on a ms3 ms4 or trex un tuned. with this being a 6.0 motor it should be able to do it right. Getting it tuned will be the top priority after the install. he should be able to get by for a couple days to a week right???

No doubt it will run. Don't expect it to run well though. It will choak, puke, occasionally die untuned whether it's a auto or a m6. You're stuffing a whole lot more air in there, and no fuel. Once it's tuned it will be night and day. It wont even sound the same.

I have put many "big" cams in ls1 cars and they all do ok without being tuned. The pcm will usually learn to idle til you get it tuned.

because this weekend we all have some free time, and there will be some free space in my shop building while I'm waiting for a few things before I can move on with my other projects. who knows when the next time is that we will be off and have the time to do.

here's for anybody who might be installing a "big" cam in a ls2 and wondering how it will run untuned.

Last night we got my friends(mastermacbayter) 05 M6 gto with LT's no cats, and a MS4 cam stock tuning fired up. One first try it fired up with 3 secs of cranking and then died I gave it no gas at all. second time I gave it 1/8th throttle took 8 seconds of cranking held it at 1500 for 10 seconds then let off the gas and it maintained a idle on its own, ambient temperature was between 40-50. It will rev right off idle just fine and settle back down to a idle on it's own. the car is drivable doesn't pull very good in low range not as good as my old MS4 car did(with tuning it will be fine). but I was really amazed at how little it surged it will it you let it. but if you are used to driving a big cam car you can avoid surge easily. when coming to a stop the idle does fall to about 400-500 for a second then comes back up to a normal idle. car has yet to die, just takes a little throttle to start when it's cold as soon as it's running it can idle on it's own just fine. I am really surprised at how good it runs for being untuned. This car will be tuned and needs to be tuned. but it will easily be drivable for a week or 2 until we can get it tuned.
