Default helicoil rocker bolt

ok so long story short my friend was and i where putting a cam in his ls2 gto and he broke the bolt for the spring compressor off in the head(rocker bolt hole). we ended up breaking a easy out off in it. so we took the head off. the machine shop says they can't get it out and save the threads. so we thought of helcoiling it. a friend had a set of edelbrock heads for a 5.0 and they had been moved up to a bigger rocker stud size, and every rocker hole was helicoiled. is a helicoil strong enough to hold. the car in question will have a ms4 cam and patriot gold dual springs. we are worried that it might pull the helicoil out.

I know you guys probably can't give me a solid answer. but those of you that might have any experience with something of this nature. i would like your opinion.

just anouthe thought what if we put the helicoil in put some locktight in there and ran the rocker bolt down tight. think the locktight will hold. I've had some good luck with it holding the outer race of a bearing from spining in a wallowed out housing

Not how I would do it but if the machine shops says he feels it will hold fine then go for it.

What kind of heads are they? Might be better off just buying another set of heads, be it aftermarket or stock 243s. Save a lot of trouble of taking the head on/off if it doesn't work, also might be cheaper then having a shop do anything.

Helicoils are stronger than the threads they replace.

Ran helicoils in a set of heads with that same problem. Never had an issue.

helicoils are a tone stronger than the aluminum threads, on the 4.6 and 5.4 fords that blow the spark plugs out i helicoil all of them with no problems.

thanks for the feedback guys. yeah we to have ran a set of heads that had every bolt hole helicoiled. It just turns out a friend of ours who who buys, trades, swaps, fixes, alot of cars just got a ls2 from a vette so we where able to get a head from him for cheap. so we lucked out on that one. still sucked though we only had 2 more springs to go and put the radiator in and it would have been done.
