What bearing is this?
I bought a new Lingenfelter 403 and asked to have the pilot bearing installed in the crank. When I went to install the flywheel I found out I didn't have the pilot bearing. Ok, I'll do it myself. No big deal. I called the salesman and told him and they sent one out to me. What I got was GM part 12557583 which is listed in the parts inventory as a clutch flywheel pilot bearing. In my parts manual the part number for the pilot bearing in my crank is 14061685 and is also listed as a clutch flywheel pilot bearing. The pilot bearing I was sent will fit into the end of the crankshaft, but in the outer area, not the inner area that the pilot bearings usually go in.
---
Is this an LS2 or LS7 pilot bearing? I am going to go and try to find one locally tomorrow because the motor has been in my garage for over a week and I want to get it in. I just want to know what to tell Lingenfelter on Monday morning.

Bearing I was sent 12557583

Any help would be appreciated.

Thats a LS2 Pilot bearing for a C6, I would think the LS7 to be the same. No C5, Fbody or GTO came with that bigger bearing though so unless your motor is actually going in a C6, then you have the wrong bearing.

You can look through the crank sensor hole. If the reluctor wheel looks like 2 plates side by side with longer 1/2" lugs (rotation wise) its the 24x, if it looks like one single plate with about 1/4" lugs its a 58x.
Or if you post up a pic one of us can ID it for you easily.

I kinda pounded on the Pilot Bearing a little bit with a socket and hammer when I installed it about 30K miles ago...
