Default LSx block && Crower solid lifter problem

Started final assembly on my LSx motor just to find out we need to take it back apart. After we degreed the cam and installed the lifters we found that the tie-bar between the lifters was hitting the lifter retainer mounting boss. I guess we're going to machine the corner of the mounting boss to gain some clearance.

Man this is the stuff that just scares me! How did you know that was happened? Like what checking were you going through to find this type concern? Seems to me its these minor things that make big differences when peoples motors are put together and over seen. As always Phil you amaze me with the wealth of knowledge and know how.

I've definitely had my shares of problems in the past and now I triple check new parts. Who would have known that Crower lifters wouldn't drop in the LSx like they drop in the LS1,2,3,6.

The tie bars are there to keep the lifters from rotating, so I doubt .20 off of them would creat a problem???

Since the lifter is hitting you may also want to look at other area..

Did you install bushings in the lifter bores? Is so then this doesn't apply.

If not then be sure the top of the lifter body doesn't drop down far enough to expose the oil galley.
We saw this on a cam with a small base circle.

3 things can solve this

1 Cam with a larger base circle
2 Bushed lifter bores
3 Lifters with a taller body.

my comp ones did not hit, it was pretty close, but if i remember correctly i have about 120 tho clearance

also, the bar can be cut without an issue we did this on my buddy's car (to save all the weight we could) we shaved them about 30 tho top and bottom, ended up saving alot of weight off moving parts.
