6.2L L92 L76 intake NW 90mm what cam is good
hello everyone,
i'm swapping a 2007 escalade L92 6.2L aluminum engine into my 1999 blazer with a t56 6 speed dodge viper spec tranny L76 intake w/ Nick Williams 90mm throttle, sanderson headers. efilive v2 programmer to do the tunning.
and maybe a 3.43 rear or higher not sure yet.
now i am looking for cam and need to now what has to be done. this engine comes with the VVT variable valve timing. is it a good idea to eliminated it and go for a bigger cam or do i leave the vvt stock cam there.
i'm gonna be driving it in the streets but dont want it to sound too chopy.
something that i can have fun with on the street and on the track and save a little gas.
am i asking for too much?
thanks in advance

You will probably have to work really hard finding a cam. I am not for sure if anyone is offering one right now. We have been doing some work with Mast Motorsports on their turn-key engines using VVT and their controller. They have made some good power with just a cam swap. I will check on the availability of just a cam as they weren't selling just the cams originally.

i think that if the cam phaser can bolt on to any cam then where good to go with any ls3 cam. from what i've been reading the cam phaser turns on at cruising speed, and turns of when you give some gas or going uphill. i'm gonna look for some pics of the cam phaser and post them here, to me it looks like the cam phaser bolts on to the front of any cam.

I got the L92 from Brian at SDPC. Hopefully Brian can step in and put some light in the work they done at SDPC. We went without VVT, because will run it with the (former UMI-Racing, now MSD) InGenius PCM. Will keep you updated as soon as it runs. Thanks

remember it's basically an ls2 with 12 more ci. and better heads from the factory. change a few parts and it's like doing an ls2 conversion.
you're biggest obstacle is finding a proven cam for a stock displacement l92 that fits without flycutting.
good luck.

this is the cam phaser i have on the 6.2L L92
now click on the attachment and see if that will work
This kit allows for a proper installation of an aftermarket cam on a 2007 or newer Trailblazer SS or Corvette. These vehicles have a newer cam design to go along with the variable valve timing available on some of the other GenIV motors. Simply using an older LS2 cam sprocket will not be good enough because of the differences between the ECM’s.

yeah you have to use the 4x cam sproclet (06 up) for your ecm. so youre ditching the cam phaser but keeping vvt? I'd ditch the vvt if youre gonna cam it tho.
