Go Wet Sump or keep stock Dry Sump??
Engine builder told me to ditch my stock dry sump in place of a wet sump setup. Said that the dry sumps aren't keeping up properly for the higher HP cars. Even mentioned some stock cars have experienced oiling problems.
I want to make sure I'm doing what's best for the engine. Going with a TT and complete forged LS7 pushing for 1krwhp max, but focusing on 800-850rwhp.
I have no intentions on road racing or auto crossing the car. Just the drag strip and driving around town.
Thanks!
Jason

Thats what I was told too. I ended up going with a large wet sump, with an external cooler and pump. Seems to be holding up well. 580rwhp NA

Nothing wrong with the dry-sump layout in an LS7 (block, pump, packaging). Just swap out the pan for an ARE...
http://www.drysump.com/ls7.htm $1100
or from ATS....for $750
http://store.nexternal.com/shared/St...unt2=739463448
and get a new catch can from these guys...
www.petersonfluidsystems.com
Most failures have been from poor Oil storage resevoir issues (no internal baffling to remove air beforegetting pumped back into the motor & not enough capacity for extreme cornering applications).
Oh yeah, If this is going into an LS7 you will need one of these ( shameless plug)...

Running a turbo ( or two) all the negative crank case pressure you can get will help. You can do both utilizing this system.

The ATS LS7 Road Race dry sump pan is a top notch piece:
we're using it on our Katech Street Attack LS7, along with their stainless tri-y headers and Sidewinder accessory drive.

James,
The pan looks good. Did you get this pan to clear the stock subframe, or for other reasons? I have a LS7 for my 69 also but I have a DSE sub so the stock pan clears it. ATS products are definitely nice and I will probably get their headers too. Nothing else can even compare... there isn't even any other LS7 headers on the market for our cars!

Vic - The oil pan is great - excellent quality and great fit. I bought a take-out LS7 from a member on the board here less intake and oil pan so ATS was the logical choice. Mark S. is running on in Camaro X which is a tremendous confidence builder and Tyler at ATS has been extremely helpful with everything on this build. We have a modified stock subframe so clearance was a question with a stock pan and this way we didn't have to worry about that. We should be on the dyno at Katech in the next couple of weeks so it will be nice to see the headers show what they can do.
