Default New 6.2L Block For 2009?

I just read the newest Popular Hot Rodding and it had a large article on the LS9 engine and went into detail on the 6.2L block.

This is where my question is...
They made it sound like this 6.2L block will be the flagship block for all the trucks and cars, ALL will have this 20% stronger (more webbing) block with factory billet mains. It said this block will be in everything by 2009, so does anyone really know what is going on, because I know the LS3 block (6.2L) is basically the same as the LS2.

I am very confused, but if this article is correct we might have a great AFFORDABLE aluminum option for a strong base for a FI engine, compared to resleeving and billet mains on a LS1/2 block! Someone has to know something!!!

Okay someone has to know something, I'm not just talking about the 6.2L LS3 block, the article said they would be changing the LS3 to this 6.2L block in 08 or 09.

The LS2 block is not the same as the LS3 block. Completely different beasts.

It depends on the meaning of "is". (Bill Clinton)

I know this, this is what I suspected most of you guys thought I was talking about!!!

I know the LS2 is completely different then the LS3, but this article made it sound like this NEW 6.2L block would even be replacing the LS3 that is currently in the C6. I would not understand that move by GM (replacing the Engine Block in the C6 after 2 years of using the LS3) that is why I am asking if anyone knows anything. Maybe the writer in PHR didn't understand, or get all the facts straight.

This new 6.2L block is the one used for the LS9, it has MORE webbing to increase the block strength by 20% (or something), it will have billet mains from the factory, and will be used in ALL vehicles from trucks to cars to Vettes!!!
