Most run the extension over the top, along side the fuel injector harness then down to the cam sensor on the front cover.

On my 98 the sensor wire harnes includes the knock sensor connectors. It splits at the back of the engine. The passenger side knock sensor goes over my starter and connects to the knock sensor in that side of the block.

The cam sensor wire and the drivers side knock sensor wire go down the the drivers side of the block, then tied to the oil filter block off plate above the filter. the knock sensor is connected and then the cam sensor wire runs down the pan rail. I have both wires wrapped in aluminum tape to shield them from heat.

Two of the cam sensor wires had to be reversed for the cam sensor to function properly.

I'm not going to run knock sensors, so no extensions there....would it not have been easier to run it over the intake?

Yes. Follow the passenger side injector harness to the front of the engine, down to the bottom and across to the cam sensor. Make sure to use straps to hold it in place away from moving parts. Mine is tied to the k-member.

Not for me!

The cam sensor wire and knock sensor connectors are made together in the harness. It was easier for me to run it under the motor and out of the way.
