"Basic block parts" interchangeability, 4.8 / 6.0 / 6.2
I posted this in the "conversions" forum (because I'm getting ready to do my swap), then got to thinking that it might be more appropriate to post this here:
I've got a buddy who's found a pretty good deal on a pair of brand-new aluminum 6.2L block/crank assemblies. The original plan was to throw an iron 6.0L into my car, but now that this has come up, I'm considering doing this:
Buy the aluminum block 6.2 for the block & crank, get the necessary pistons & rods to make it a basic short block. Then buy a 4.8L to get the coils, engine covers, & all the rest of the "misc. little parts" to make it a complete & running engine. (I already have the L92 heads & L76 intake.)
Aside from the obvious "displacement-related" parts (crank, pistons, heads etc.), does the 4.8 use the same "basic block parts" as the 6.0 / 6.2?
I seem to recall that they do, but I'd feel a bit better if I could get confirmation of that before I spend any money...
Thanks guys.

OK, thanks supersub, I really appreciate it. Is there another (inexpensive) engine that might have ALL of the parts I'd need, or is that about as good as it's gonna get??
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Anyone? I'd just like to be sure that there aren't any other (relatively inexpensive) options, before I commit to which engine I'll be building.
Thanks guys.
Thanks guys.
