Default Is it my CAM???

Fellas,

I have a 02 WS6 with 58K miles that's been giving me some problems. It just doesn't seem to have the power that it used too, almost like it's missing a cylinder. I checked the plugs; fine. Replaced the stock plug wires with MSDs. No codes from the PCM. It's not the CATS b/c I don't have any. WTF??? It doesn't need a tune b/c I just had that done too. I replace the fuel filter religiously every 10k, in fact just put a new one on 1500 miles ago. It doesn't need a fuel injection flush, I just did that 6000 miles ago.

A buddy of mine who used to work at a Chevy Dealer says the LS1 camshafts suck ***** and have been known to **** the bed early in the engines lifespan.

Here is what it feels like when I am driving. It feels ok in 1st and 2nd gear, but when I get to 3rd and 4th and floor it, the damn thing feels literally like it's missing on a cylinder.

My question is: How would I know if the cam shaft is starting to go on me? Any other ideas?

HEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPP!!!!!!

Run a compression check or cyl balance test.

If it feels like a dead miss, it probably is. Theres many more components that can cause a dead cyl than just plugs and wires. Could be bad or weak coil, bent or broken pushrod. Broken valve spring, burned valve, clogged or bad injector, bad coil or injector driver in the PCM. Could be alot of different ****. Probably isnt the camshaft though.

Ed took the words out of my mouth. A balance test will pinpoint the weak cylinder. You can go from there.
