Default Cam Retainer plate wear problem

Vinci has an article on there web site about this problem, and a picture that shows a modified plate with 3- .0396" notches to help prevent premature wear. Has anyone done this? and if so were are the notches placed? You can't really see because the pic is to small. I tried calling them but did not have any success. They state that wear is observed with stock and aftermarket cams. It does help to use a cam gear with a roller bearing on the back side. Thanks

How many people have seen true wear, not just a discoloration? I am looking at timing sets now and this is one thing I am concerned with.

Interesting, because the Torrington bearing on the cam gear will not help with wear on that side of the cam plate.

Also, just so you are aware, GM no longer sells the original cam retainer plate, the new one has countersunk holes and requires special bolts. I posted all the information in the Gen III internal section if you need it. Torque values are different as well from what I could figure out, but GM didn't say anything about that.
