Im trying to decide what cubic inch engine to build. From the start i will say that i know i still have alot of reading and research to do but i would like a push in the right direction.

I want an engine that will lay down ~550hp. I want it NA and I want it reliable. I really dont know what ci engine can accompany what im looking for... 402, 408, 418 etc.

Once again i know i need to do some research but im looking for a push in the right direction and maybe some engine builders i could look into.

Generally, the more displacement the more power you can make relaibly. I think 408ci engines are making about 500bhp or so at a reasonable RPM on hydraulic lifters. Chech the Dyno sections and se what people are running.

I think the best bang for the buck is L92 block and a 4.0 crank. = 415

I was going with a 408 but now i cheaped out for a 370 iron block using stock crank and setting it up so it will be easy to adjust for some boost in the future which is what I really want. thinking of a D1 later on.
