Default Timing Chain Loose?

I did a cam swap yesterday and when I put the cam gear and timing chain back on, I noticed a a lot of slack in the chain. I'm not sure if it was there before I pulled it off but it only has 50,000 miles on it. Is there a specific way to install the timing chain so the slack is all on one side and if so what side, driver side or passenger side? Or is this timing chain worn out?

Thanks

You should replace the chain any time you get a chance. Ive never seen a chain not get stretched out. I would have upgraded the chain since you're swapping cams, the higherlift is going to put more pressure on the chain since it will have to compress the springs more. Dont set yourself up for failure!

Can you recomend a chain? I heard that alot of people upgrade to the LS2 chain. I'm using the ASA cam 226/236 @.525 110 LSA.

If you are into pulling off the oil pump I would upgrade to a COMP 3153, And at that time I would upgrade the pump. If not a new LS1 chain will fill the bill When I was @ LPE we never once had timing chin failure on a ASA engine.FWIW If you want to be dead accurate send your block over and we will put a jesel in it
