Default LSX block rear cover?

I seem to be having a little clearance issue with the cover and that black pipe plug installed for the priority oiling thing. It was torqued to spec but seems like it sticks out to far still and the cover won't seat, anyone else see this?

Also, the rear seal, anyone know which way should be facing out?

You might have to grind the outer edge of the plug down a tad or replace the plug with a shorter plug, its 3/8 NPT.

The rear seal should be more obvious, but it will have the sealing lip facing towards the rear. With it installed in the cover you should not need any special tools to install it and the cover at the same time. It may say "outside" in the smallest font ever on one side.

We machine .100 off the back of the plug.

Yep, had to grind mine too....pretty sad they can't check those things. Its an easy fix, but for GM's bad boy its pretty lame.

Right on guys, thanks alot! I'll pull it out tomorrow and grind it down. My buddy actually had that dam special square fitting tool and I have to get it from him again now, unless someone knows what its called and where I can find one .

So, the lip faces the rear of the vehicle? Kinda what i thought but since that is oppisite of my old one, I wasn't sure.

Do you guys trim the rubber seal/gasket off flush at the bottom, or let it hang out?

Thanks again!
Dan

I cut the cord flush, but add silicone in that spot when the pan goes on.
