NEWB!!!! Looking at Heads/Cam from TSP
Texas speed offers this heads/cam combo. It looks like it's a hell of a deal. The cam that I'd go with would be there 228R cam with a 112 LSA as my gto is my daily driver. What does everyone think about this combo? I did have a question regarding the valves. I would assume if I wanted better than stock, I'd upgrade to the hollow stem ss valves. How exactly are the better than the stockers?
Also, do you think I could hit 470 to the wheels if I install a fast 92/92 combo along with the heads and cam?

A few issues....first off, the FAST 92 intake will not work with the L92 heads that you linked to. You are limited currently to the GM composite intake (L76) or their carb style intake for those heads.
Did you mean to link to the L92 combo? Or did you have the LS6 or 5.3L head package in mind? Let us know that, and we can make sure all the parts you are looking at jive with each other and will make you happy!

I meant the L92 combo, mainly because I've heard it flows good and is a good cost effective mod. I wasn't sure about the fast being able to hook up or not. I haven't totally ruled out the 5.3L head/cam option. Like I said, I've just heard a lot of good things about the L92. If I were shooting for a good reliable 450hp+, which would be the way to go? The L92 or 5.3L setup?

How long will it be before the new fast intake comes out? Anyone know? As you can tell, all I'm doing now is trying to find out all the info I can and try to learn which combo will serve me best for what I want. A few things will be done to the car first to get it ready for the almost 100hp bump. Heads/cam will probably go on towards the end of the year.

Thats nice, a LS2 with 228r cam and some nice heads and intake, even through IRS can get 470+rwhp?? If so thats some nice numbers... I dont think Im gonna make much more than that and Im gonna use a bigger cam than that, on a 402, in a F body...
Ok I probably wont be back on for another 8 hours or more, since I havent slept yet..
its 5:23am here. :-/

With a bigger cam, the right heads, and the right weather conditions I think I could get close to that. But with the cam I'm going with it'll probably be closer to 430-440ish. Also, just did a little research using the all mighty search button and saw that the 5.3L heads up'd the compression. Which I probably don't want to do. So I guess I'm beginning to narrow my search down a bit. But, i'll continue my research until I find which heads/cam combo gives me exactly what I'm looking for.

the best heads to go with would be some aftermarket castings, but as far as ported factory castings i like the ls6's with 59cc chambers. seem to be very consistent. i have seen lots of 5.3 liter heads that make great power too though. i have a friend who makes 417/390 on a little tr230 reverse split with the prc 5.3 heads.
