6 speed manual trans class for lsfest interest thread
Wanna see the interest and who will actually show up and race in the 6 speed class if there is one.
Who has already been to the lsfest or one of the lsx challenge series races and competed with there 6 speed car?
State ur race weight tire size, nitrous, turbo, supercharger ect. Et's u have ran and what type of car u will be running.
I doubt i will be able to run the class because i will be running rumble.

I don't know if they would go for anything but heads up because there will be two index classes to run in. I guess if there is enough interest the class could be whatever or what the sponsor wants it to be.

Stock block maybe good, i would rather see aftermarket heads allowed.
28 inch tire is fine but i dont see it being that big a deal.
Im not sure on the sycronized thing but it should help keep the class slower and more competitive. I don't wanna see others left out because of that being a rule tho.
I think there should be a minimum weight of course at least 3000 lbs being the minimum. Maybe a little heavier but that should get everyone in the class being that there is some light cars out there.
Main thing is just try to get as many cars to run as possible with loose rules.

I agree the rules should be kept to a minimum. The transmission is the limiting factor here so we shouldn't limit other aspects of the car. I know a few fox bodys, fbody camaros and corvettes that are under 3000 lbs so I don't think we should put a minimum weight. That would also eliminate Mazda and Nissan swaps from entering. The 4/5 top fastest 6 speed guys are faceplated I believe so I don't think we can limit to just synchro transmissions. And of course aftermarket heads should be allowed. Almost everyone has aftermarket heads. But maybe RHS and other aftermarket blocks should be prohibited -keep it factory LS block.

If you have a stick class that allows any modified OEM transmission and say unlimited power, then you'd end up with at least one car that crushes everyone? What do you call those trans mods that let you to basically shift without relying on the clutch... face plating?

Yes it is called face plating. I agree that gives them a serious advantage, however, only serious stick shift racers are going to enter a heads up 6 speed class and most of the serious stick racers have a face plated trans. If you prohibit faceplated/modified 6 speeds, you eliminate a lot of potential racers. At the end of the day, it's only my opinion and the only opinion that really matters is the person who sponsors the class.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but, I bet if you prohibit the Face-Plated transmissions, you'll have a higher car count.
My thought is you'll get a lot of the guys that are on the fence. They wont bother to race a face plated car, but, as has been said earlier in this thread, anything can happen on a run with a true OEM style stick car...

LOL... my though was based of the idea that there are more cars without than with...
Would the sponsors like to see 4-6 cars in the 8.90-9.50 range, or 20 cars in the 9.50-10.0 range?
ps... I have no idea how many face-plated cars are out there and how fast they go - this is only just an example...
