Default '07 HOT ROD Pump Gas Drags is Coming! Register Now!

Hey Gang,
Though it was almost killed off, HOT ROD's Pump Gas Drags (TM), will live another year, and the staff over here at HOT ROD Magazine would like to extend an invitation to all of you to join us for the '06 melee called PGD (TM),. In case you’re not aware, Pump Gas Drags (TM), is a shootout of real street cars hand-selected by the magazine staff to compete in this one-of-a-kind event where every car gets loaded with Rockett Brand street gasoline, makes the drive from Comp Cams to the dragstrip, and shoots it out heads-up style for the braggin’ rights.
The rules and format have been revamped slightly, so make sure to read carefully to ensure your cars within the new guidelines. Also, for the first time, cars eliminated from the competition will have the opportunity to “grudge race” in between the official rounds so everyone gets plenty of track time in.
There’s 75 slots this year instead of 50, but NO alternates, so hurry up and get your registration in for consideration!

Check out the all the new rules and get your registration here;

http://www.hotrod.com/eventcoverage/...tration_rules/

Can’t race this year, but still want to come? Sounds good to us! Memphis Motorsports Park charges $10 to watch the test and tune the evening of Thursday, May 10. Lots of PGD(TM) cars are there, so it's worth it.
It's free to come to Comp Cams to see the tech inspection starting around 8 a.m. on May 12, and you can take a free tour of the Comp Cams manufacturing facility, where all the cams are machined. The first 500 people who take that tour will get coupons for a $2 discount for entry to Memphis Motorsports Park for Pump Gas Drags(TM) racing on the afternoon of Saturday, May 12, which is $10 per person. The cruise from Comp Cams to the track will start around 3 p.m., and racing should begin at Memphis Motorsports Park around 4:30 p.m.

Hope to see you there!

The rule changes should help a bit, don't you think Wayne? I'm sure some of the faster stuff was <3000 lbs.

It should help a little but I still think someone will be at the 8.50 mark.

The times get a little quicker every year and with the added weight it will most likely keep them where they were.

I think elvis(purple mopar) was around 2700lbs. , almost 1,000 lbs. lighter than me

Its all good though I knew going in that I didnt have much of a shot at winning.

With that said we found a good bit of power since then so I may send in an entry form again for next year

Well if that Mopar has to add 600 lbs he's not going to do that. I do think the rule changes make it more interesting.

I do like the 3,300 lb min weight and no tube chassis cars rule. Keep a lot of the non-street stuff out of it. I say high 8's wins it this year, hopefully they stick to the rules of "if you break on the cruise, you're out"

the rule about no forward facing scoops that are non OEM is stupid, that eliminates alot of cars that have simple hoods like "cowl SS"-esque hoods....

I think they are going for an aftermarket snorkel/aero scoop here on this ruling, but might want to post a question on Hot Rod's forum and see what they say.

Mine's torn up, didn't submit

Buddy submitted his '71 Nova so we'll see if he gets picked, then if so off to Memphis!

I submitted my entry a couple of weeks ago. Will not be near the fastest but will have some fun and meet new friends.

I sent mine in a few weekends ago. would be fun to go. If i get in ill have to put off going fast early in the season to do some pumpgass testing. might have psi grind a cam that will run better with the pump gas. we really only started mine up and motor tuned it on 93. its been c16 since.
