Default Costa Rica Rental Cars?

Im leaving at the end of march to spend 13 days in costa rica. After a bunch of research im down to one last decision: where to rent a car. IMy girlfriend and I though it would be a good time to cruise around in a wrangler but I cant seem to find a place online that rents them (at least a well known company that doesnt seem too shady). Does anyone have any places that they rented from that they can recommend? I really dont want to show up in a foregin country and be completely screwed and have to walk all over the country. Any other input would be great as well! Thanks everyone!!

I rented a Jeep Wrangler in Aruba in 2003.I'm sure you can find something in Costa Rica.

It was expensive but the transaction wasn't any different than the U.S.

It won't have any heater controls. They don't need a heater down there.

I live in Panama right now and you dont see any Jeep Wranglers down here at all. (I actually bought one and am having it shipped down here. Costa Rica is pretty much the same thing even for rentals. They have all the Rental car places available as they do in the states. YOu wont have a difficult time at the airport finding a rental car shop. The main thing is in most/all of these Central American countries they are all getting away from american cars because gas is $$$$$. YOu can buy a jeep wrangler in Costa Rica if you wanted to for 40,000. Thats how jacked up the prices are. Let me know if u need any other info.

When I was in St. Maarten I rented a Daihatus Cuore, 3 spd automatic rattlebox. Kind of how a Honda Civic was like in the late 70's.

Thanks for the help guys. The only reason I asked about the Wrangler is because the girlfriend wanted one. Guess Im gonna have to tell her oh well and just get a Rav 4 or something shitty like that. I will probably just rent it through ORbitz or something since they have some cheap prices.

Im really excited to go and everything but as I keep making reservations and thing like that, I just cant help but thinking how much faster/nicer my car could be with all that $$... Oh well..

Thanks again
Ry

Jeeps are more premium, and will be a lot more expensive than Japanese 4x4's.

I went to costa rica last year and all I have to say is get ready to drive on the crappiest roads you have ever seen. Be careful too they drive like maniacs. But it sure is a wonderful place. what city are you going to be spending most of your time.
