Talking what have i DONE?!

i'm finalizing the purchase of this:

and i'm new to the boards. and i'm also new to LSX. i'm sorry, but these cars get me high. never really paid much attention until i saw this car. when you stop for a second and look, these are gorgeous machines. they look good, they sound good, they have the potential to go REALLY fast...

sign me up.

anyway, car has 241? heads, ls6 intake, slp lid, i want to say slp longtubes? offroad y pipe, cutout after the axle. i have to get the exact specs on the cam, owner says pretty much an ms4.

arp rod bolts, clevite main bearings, ls6 pistons, some others.

under the guidance of the previous owner it was suggested that i throw on patriot's ported ls6 heads. thinking/researching/learning before anything like that.

anyway, i'm excited to get into this and im looking forward to meeting you all!

Not a bad deal at all. i paid $5500 for mine and its a 96 Z28. I wanted an LS1 at first but ended up getting the LT1 instead. I think you got a very good deal. Hopefully theres no hidden problems. 6spd?

there are problems, they arent hidden though. owner's been very upfront and honest about what's wrong with it. most are getting fixed for free, some i don't mind pitching in for. it's still a good deal. there is nothing else like this in my network.

yeah, m6. it burns oil retard style. he thinks it's filefitting on the rings, we're getting it leakdown tested next week. then pulling the motor (if it is the rings) and taking it back up to cunningham so they can redo the rings.

some little things, a broken wheel stud, bad camber on the front. nothing too major, rings are the major issue right now.

I still say its not too bad for that price. You gonna add any more mods to it?

yeah, i kind of have the car worked out in my head. the patriot ported ls6 heads, 90/90, cam is staying the same (its huge), might install some better exhaust + electric cutout.. plus the free mods. fuel system upgrades + wide band sensor.

suspension i need to research more. definitely a rollbar of some kind, depending on what i decide to do with it. im torn between a fast straightline street car and getting into HPDE sessions at the local road track with NASA. the setups would be different i'm assuming, different tires, suspension etc. like i said i need to research more and think it over.

i'd give it a low 12 safely. i'm not educated enough to be throwing numbers around. that's a guess. needs the rings fixed and tuned. i'll run it after i get that sorted out.

Dang nice car man. ImIf your not totally sure on the heads try sending a pm to some sponsors such as texas speed, thunder racing, patriot (as u stated), vengence, or others (i mainly use those) or just go to the engine section and post up your cam specs and what kinda power your looking for ad im sure someone will point you in the right direction. But from what you said its gunna be a sick lil ride.

Keep us informed on your progress man. Looks good

nice ride.. ms4 is a massive cam for stock heads.. def look into a set from texas speed.. stage 2.5 5.3 heads are very popular, and are affordable. a friend of mine used a ms3 with these heads, a built trans with a 4k stall and made 430ish at the wheels on his SS... good luck and welcome to the world of real american muscle

dunno, as far as aesthetics go i'm thinking a deep glossy gunmetal + black theme. the bergman (?) rear panel, smoked headlights, the two-color tails from the LT1 maros... i'm swapping ALL the interior lights (including gauge cluster + stereo backlighting) with red ones from superbrightleds, and i was thinking of powdercoating some torq thrust IIs black. in my head it looks great but you know, i dunno, i might not be able to pull it off. we'll see though. money is the governor here.

Damn, jumping right into an MS4-sized cam with the supporting mods and you'll be looking to replace that rear pretty soon if you throw any sort of decent tire on it. Nice purchase.

he has to flycut if it is an ms4.. or same specs as ms4.. go with ls6 heads...

if the cam is that big, you will have to go with stock valves

thats the way... ms4 cam only is good enough for breaking a rear especially in a 6speed and sticky tires

idk if its just me but the motor looks like its not sitting in the engine bay right. doesnt the gap between the motor look too big on the passenger side, and tight on the driver side? idk, might just be my eyes ******* with my head
