72' Camaro and Import looking for Muscle
Hey guys and gals,
A new member here that has a couple project cars that need better engines. Lots of info and discussions on this site so it looks like I will have lots to research.
I'm planning on swapping a LS based engine into my Subaru so I'm just gathering some info before I spend some $$$
I have Auto-xed and Tracked this car lots but only after a couple trips to the dragstrip I'm hooked
Even with the heavy Subaru Awd system, the car has a raceweight of about 2480lbs..car sucks for power so hopefully an LS can solve that
Other car is a 72 Camaro that will one day be our cruizer

Subaru is a 2000 Impreza 2.5RS. I have done about 300lbs of weight reduction but the engine is still stock.....165 crank hp
Camaro is the stock 307..needs lots of work...picked it up for $1000 but I did drive it 20 miles to get her home. Not really picture worthy yet.

thanks for the welcomes guys
I definatly will not be able to keep it awd with the Subaru drivetrain. The whole engine sits ahead of the front wheels and it is a tight squeeze even with the horizontal 4 cylinder. To fit a V8, I'll have to swap transmissions and mount the engine further back.
This will be a purpose built drag car so RWD will be better for my needs.
Maybe with the left over Subaru AWD drivetrain, I'll make my Mazda 5 family mini van AWD ..hmmm
