Default New here from Michigan (I've been lurking..)

Hey guys New to the forums not new to the F-body world.

My car is a 97 V6, Auto, t-top with the sport appearance package.
I bought it a bit over two years ago but had my eye on it for 7 years before that it was my dads but he needed a new truck so I bought his car.

Current modifications are C5 Vette wheels, UMI tubular rear LCA's and panhard and 55w HID retrofit with projectors.

Future modifications include SFC's, ford 8.8 LSD with 3.73 gears, tubular A-arms, tubular K member, 5spd transmission, and an engine swap but here's the catch.. it's a Toyota 2JZ with a big single turbo...

I hope you guys can help me out with the questions I'll have along the way..

It is indeed a Supra engine. My goal is 900 crank hp. As for a turbo I haven't purchased one as of yet, but most likely sized near a GT42.

Glad to hear there are some fellow Michiganders here!

And I'm surprised I haven't been flamed for planning on swapping in a Toyota engine

The biggest hang up I've been able to put my thumb on will be fitting it between the strut towers with an aftermarket front facing intake plenum I might need to do some metal reworking Fitment length and height seem to be reasonable. No worse than cramming a 350 into a 98 s10....

Interesting...

I happen to do alot of work on 2jz's just up the road from you in Fenton. A buddy of mine has a 950whp setup that I helped him put together, as well as a bunch of spare parts (trans/motor/ecu/wiring harnesses bla bla bla)

I tune AEM/motec/mapecu as well.

My daily driver happens to be a 3800 v6... that puts down 505whp. I would consider the 2jz a moderate downgrade from the 3800 you are taking out, at least in terms of power/dollar ratio.

I'd love to build a 3.8 it would be simple and decently cheap but I have the urge to do something different and challenging..

Greetings,

Michiganlander, I was in Michigan last week. I have a friend in Howell
and also passed through Brighton.

The previous thurday 7/8/10, we were passing through Waterford, it was 100degrees and overcast, it started to peltdown rain for about ten minutes, the temperature dropped down from 100 to 75 degrees with those 10 minutes. Crazy sh*t. ( My buddie's STI has a digital thermometer. )

We went to the big Sunoco gas station to fill up my buddies built STI with 110 while we were in Howell just outside of Brighton.

My other buddy in Brighton has a 92 Supra with a built JDM 1JZ and a BIG turbo. His Supra has about 800 rwhp. He deals alot with Turbo Concepts in the Howell-Brighton area.

So anyways ... Welcome.

.
