Default Conquest Owner

Hey guys I own an 89 conquest and just picked up a ls1 that I'm going to swap in. I have a lot of work ahead of me as the engine I picked up supposedly has a knock but I'm not afraid to tear into this thing. I have rebuilt quite a few 2.6l mitsu motors so this thing should be a cake walk. Anyways check out my ride, I will be lurking around doing some research and buying some parts

I always liked the body on those especially in that blue color your buddies car is sporting.

I am sure yours will be a beast when its done

That Fiji blue car is nice. Good luck on your build. One of my friends is a big conquest/starion guy. We are getting ready to build a 6.0 to swap into his 85 Starion.

always wanted a starion, but can no longer get past the interior - in the 80's it was AWESOME, but definitely not what you'd consider "timeless."

good luck on the swap. i hope it all goes well

Nice, I have a white 88 lowered on d2 coilovers, 272 cam, 20g, and some other goodies. Also one sitting in my driveway waiting for a heart.

Welcome.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, I tore the block apart some last night and found the #8 rod bearing has spun. Im going to finish tearing the motor apart soon and assess the situation from there.

Well I got the rest of the engine torn apart and it looks like the only damage is one rod and journal. I am on the look out for a good condition rotating assembly that I can plop in with new bearing/rings and a hone. Ill need to add a zo6 cam new rockers rods lifters a comp cams double roller chain and rebuilt heads to top it off

There was a member on here that had a turbo or twin turbo LS1 Conquest/Starion on here...it was a beast. I myself had a 85.5 ESI the first model with a intercooler. Loved the car but that 2.6 is a dog in a really good chassis. Good luck with the build.

Those are very cool cars! My dad was a salesman at a Chrysler dealer and had a silver Conquest as a demonstrator for a few weeks in '88 or '89. Fun car! It was one of the fastest cars I'd driven at the time! lol
Good luck with the build.
