Default Hello from IL! (Current '74 Vette guy) Looking to purchase an LS1 Camaro soon.

Hey Everyone,

My name is Tim, and I'm from Chicago Illinois. I am new to the LS1 forum, and have recently gained a huge interest in the LS1 Camaro. I have always been interested in Chevy sports cars since my dad purchased a 1974 Corvette back when I was a youngster. We've won numerous NCRS awards, and participated in many shows such as the Chicago VetteFest and Bloomington Gold. The two of us no longer go on any trips or do shows because our Corvette group fell apart.

My goal is now to purchase a z26 Camaro from between the years of 1996-2002 and to become involved with a local Camaro group. Seeing as I am totally new to this forum, any advice would be much appreciated! Please feel free to post any comments or questions.

Thanks,
Tim

Welcome to the forum Tim! That is a very nice looking Corvette you have there!!
Sorry to hear about your vette group falling apart.
Just a couple things and I'm not trying to pick on you. I believe you meant a Z28 camaro and the only reason I would imagine you were mentioning 1996-2002 was maybe for the LS1 engine rather than the LT1? if that's the case you actually want 1998-2002.

Thank you! Hopefully I will be able to post more pictures soon.
Also, I did mean the Z28 camaro; which as you said would be 1998-2002. Thank you for correcting me.
I really like your Trans Am btw! Do you mostly use it on drag strips?

Thanx! I actually use the car mostly as a daily driver in the summer time. Last years setup was a H/C/I. This year I went with a turbo setup. Should get better mileage and more power

Just to clarify, the z28 has been around since the beginning of the camaro. 1998-2002 was just the LS1 engine, whereas 1993-1997 was a LT1 engine.
